Career Chats 8-07-15 - with Brett Price 2009 Recording & Music Technology graduate and current Entertainment & Media Business student Brett Price, Technical Director for Deforest Performing Arts Center was at the Madison campus to share his experiences and the opportunities he has available only for MMI students.  Brett has spent the last 10 years building a program that is respected and can boast state of the art audio and video equipment.

Brett shared with attendees that this is not just an internship opportunity.  For the right person who is willing to work and prove themselves to earn credibility – Brett has other paying opportunities that will be available.  He’s also connected in the Madison arts community and is completely willing to share his network with the right person. When asked “what is it you like best about what you do?” Brett answered enthusiastically, “In 10 years no day has been the same, every day is different and spans from the most basic of needs to the most complex.  I absolutely love my job.” So what are some of the major events that take place at the DeForest Performing Arts Center you ask?  This fall the high school will be putting on their rendition of “Dracula”.  This will be less about mic’ing and more about sound design, heavy lighting, and heavy video.  In Brett’s works “ a deep and awesome show!”  They also regularly host the WI Department of Corrections graduations and on Sundays run sound and video for Door Creek Church north campus services. What did attendees have to say about this opportunity?  Second semester Brandon Gregory commented, “This is exactly what I want to know.  I’ve been asking my current employer to teach me all these things and we never get around to it.  Knowing how to do all the theater and management stuff – this would round out my resume.  Partnered with my live sound and podcast experience – it would set me up to do anything!” Another successful Career Chat!
