Mike Bailey Promoted to Madison Campus President
Mike Bailey has been promoted to the position of Campus President and Academic Dean for Madison Media Institute, as well as the Madison campus of Rockford Career College. In his new position, he is responsible for managing the operations for both campuses, including oversight of faculty, staffing and teaching; curriculum and course development; student advising and retention; community outreach; and consulting with professional advisory committees.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Bailey. “It’s been a great seven years so far and I can’t wait to see what the next seven hold!”
Prior to joining the education field, he had a career in the music business, starting as an independent label owner. He turned that entrepreneurial experience into a 12-year run at EMI Music (now Universal Music). At EMI, he moved from marketing assistant (for Peter Gabriel's Real World label) to label manager for Back Porch Records, and finally served as director of artists & repertoire for Manhattan/Blue Note Records. During that time, he was responsible for creative, scheduling, marketing and fiscal elements of numerous recordings, overseeing projects from Rosanne Cash, Van Morrison, Frank Black, The Neville Brothers and countless others. In all Bailey has credits on more than 100 major label recordings, roughly a dozen of which were Grammy nominated.
Bailey is a Grammy-voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS). He also has positions on various advisory committees, including the Dane County Arts Commission (Madison, WI), the Sunset Music Series in Madison, WI and WVMO 98.7 FM community radio for the city of Monona.
Earlier this year, he completed his Master of Science in Education in Professional Development (MSE-PD) from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.
