About the industry professionals:
Doug Olson - Doug Olson has been involved in recording since the early eighties, getting his professional start working at Smart Studios in 1987. Doug's production and artist credits include The Smashing Pumpkins, L7, Remy Zero, Cheap Trick, Blues Traveler, The Voodoo Glow Skulls, Paw, Paris Texas, Walt Mink and the Lords of the Trident. He was mix engineer for three seasons of the acclaimed HBO series Reverb, and more recently mixed the theme song for the John Oliver Show. Doug's international experience has included engineering, mixing or producing recordings in England, Italy, Australia, Hungary, Canada and across the United States. Since 2007, Doug has been the Program Chair of the Recording and Music Technology Department at Madison Media Institute. He has a Bachelor's of Science in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is a certified Pro Tools Expert.
Chris Vrenna - Chris is an American musician, Grammy-winning producer, engineer, remixer, songwriter, and programmer. Chris Vrenna is best known as the former drummer for Nine Inch Nails, from the eras of Pretty Hate Machine through Downward Spiral. He was also the keyboardist and drummer of Marilyn Manson from 2004 until 2011. Chris found himself a popular producer-for-hire, working with established acts such as Rob Zombie and Skinny Puppy. His skills as a programmer have been utilized by Hole and Guns N' Roses. He has also worked with Pigface, Killing Joke, Jack off Jill, Josh Wink, Megadeth, Metallica, 16volt and Scar the Martyr. He has also toured behind the kit for industry heavyweights KMFDM and Gnarls Barkley. Chris continues to be a highly sought-after remixer, being tapped by acts such as U2, David Bowie, Slipknot, and countless other top shelf acts.
Dan Harjung - Dan Harjung is a 27-year veteran of the recording industry. He started his career in Los Angeles, studying music recording, music production and record mastering. Dan gained much of his experience working as an engineer at Royal Recorders, a world-class recording studio in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. While he worked his way from Assistant Engineer to Engineer, Chief Engineer, Studio Manager and finally Studio Owner, Dan had the opportunity to engineer recordings for many well-known artists. He has also worked with legendary producers Roy Thomas Baker, Peter Collins, Jerry Harrison, Michael Wagener and Dave Jerden. In 1994, Dan took on the role of A&R representative and mastering engineer for the Narada label group, a subsidiary of EMI Records based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dan was responsible for signing Ramsey Lewis, among others, to the label. He also mastered hundreds of records while at Narada. Dan has received numerous gold and platinum albums, as well as a Grammy for his work on Tingstad and Rumble’s Acoustic Garden.
